This is a beautiful Platinum Infused Druzy artfully wrapped in a tension forged sterling silver wire wrap. This is a wonderful piece that is an amazing combination of natural stone and human ingenuity. This exquisite druzy is spectacular with a dazzling rainbow of opalescent colors shimmering across its crystalized surface. The vibrant display of color is greatly highlighted by the swirling waves of sterling silver which securely grasp the stone and really make it pop.
Scientifically, platinum infusion is a process in which a natural quartz crystal or druzy is (in a lab) heated to extreme temperatures and then placed into a vacuum. Once in the vacuum very fine particles of platinum are introduced to the heated stone. The pure metals bond richly and deeply with the quartz which results in coloring that can not be scratched or scraped off. It in fact fuses with the surface of the stone making the process practically permanent.
Metaphysically, platinum infused quartz has a very intense, strong energy that cleanses the aura and stimulates, balances, and clears all chakras. It is a crystal of joy, and like a rainbow, signifies hope and optimism. Platinum quartz is also a stone of romance and love, and can bring both into one's life.
My wire work is all done by me in a tension forging technique using a hammer and anvil. I have been using this technique for almost 17 years with great results. I call it tension forging because all that holds the piece securely in the wrap is the tension of the wire. It is a single piece of wire and there is no glue or solder added making it exceedingly organic while still remaining very secure.
Photos: I try to give a good idea of the piece that you are buying, so I always take many photos. That way you have an example of what the piece looks like in multiple lighting situations. This is also why the photos do not always match but it is always of the same piece of jewelry.
