This is a beautiful Shiva Lingam Stone artfully wrapped in a tension forged sterling silver wire wrap. This is a wonderful stone that is truly unique. All shiva lingams have a cylindrical shape tapering to rounded ends and this one is no exception. It has a deep brown color that is highlighted with lines of speckled light tan. Its origin is also interesting, it can only be found in the Narmada River in India, at Onkar, Mandahata, which is one of the countries seven sacred holy sites. The charming shape and coloring are highlighted by the swirling waves of sterling silver which securely grasp the stone and really make it pop.
Metaphysically, shiva lingam is a stone of insight, allowing the user to recognize and let go of things (feelings, emotions, etc.) that no longer serve or have been outgrown.
My wire work is all done by me in a tension forging technique using a hammer and anvil. I have been using this technique for almost 17 years with great results. I call it tension forging because all that holds the piece securely in the wrap is the tension of the wire. It is a single piece of wire and there is no glue or solder added making it exceedingly organic while still remaining very secure.
