Up for sale is a beautiful Lapis Lazuli Cabochon artfully wrapped in a sterling silver tension forged wire wrap. This is a lovely stone that has been polished to a high sheen. Its velvety deep blue color perfectly resembles the night sky complete with sparkling flashes of pyrite chips that twinkle like stars. The dramatic color is highlighted by the swirling waves of sterling silver which securely grasp the stone and really make it pop.
Metaphysically, lapis is said to have existed since "before time was born" and is used to provide clarity and mental endurance. It can help in organizing ones life and is used to overcome depression. It is said to bring cheer to the user and bring success in relationships.
My wire work is all done by me in a tension forging technique using a hammer and anvil. I have been using this technique for almost 17 years with great results. I call it tension forging because all that holds the piece securely in the wrap is the tension of the wire. It is a single piece of wire and there is no glue or solder added making it exceedingly organic while still remaining very secure.
