Up for sale is a beautiful Amethyst Stalactite Slice artfully wrapped in a tension forged sterling silver wire wrap. This is a wonderful stone that has a truly unique shape and creation. It has been sliced from a natural amethyst stalactite and polished to a high sheen. It highlights the way a stalactite is formed with small green centers abruptly shifting to clear quartz which in turn slowly shades to crystals of deep purple. Another unique quality to this piece is while its front and back are polished, the sides are all natural amethyst crystals. The dramatic color is highlighted by the swirling waves of sterling silver which securely grasp the stone and really make it pop.
Metaphysically, amethyst is know as the "stone of spiritualty and contentment" and is useful for achieving stability and peace. It is also frequently used to encourage and support sobriety and is an excellent stone for aid in the breaking of addictions.
My wire work is all done by me in a tension forging technique using a hammer and anvil. I have been using this technique for almost 17 years with great results. I call it tension forging because all that holds the piece securely in the wrap is the tension of the wire. It is a single piece of wire and there is no glue or solder added making it exceedingly organic while still remaining very secure.
